Game Night! Get Your Mahj On: Learning About and From Mah Jong

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Channel your inner Bubbie, Safta, Nonna, or Avuela while learning about the classic Chinese game of Mah Jong, that somehow became an iconic Jewish tradition. Why is this game so beloved, and how did it become a popular weekly ritual of so many North American Jews? What lessons can Mah Jong teach us about creating rituals, traditions, and sacred spaces that we can bring to our camp communities? Join us as we learn how to play the game, explore its history, and gain admission into the world of Mah Jong. All levels of player welcome. No prior knowledge or childhood memories of Mah Jong required!
